Taking Small Baby Steps In Celebration of Love, Life and deLights

Aim
1. This blog is an attempt to set up a platform for the friends and alumni of 11th floor to journey with the babies, our next generation.

Background
2. The title of this blog "The Fertile Grounds of the 11th Floor" originated from a baby boom phenomenon on the 11th floor of the (then MCDS, but now) MCYS Building in the year 2002.

3. The years of 2001-2004 saw the co-location of the Community and Social Sector Development Division with the Sports and Youth Division.

4. During this period, maybe it was something (love?) in the air, or maybe it was their professional passion for people (our corporate creed), it appeared that the inhabitants of the 11th floor in 2001-2004 were not satisfied with merely promoting the idea of active citizenry through policy work. In an amazing telepathic unity (or perhaps it was plain coincidence), many decided to "walk the talk" by actively responded to the government’s call to have children. (A statistics analysis on how much we have contibuted to the fertility rate of Singapore is pending, and will be updated soon)

Conclusion
5. Lovely bundles of joys the babies are, and until today, anecdotes and stories of the babies still continue to inspire joy and laughter among the friends and alumni of the 11th floor.

6. This update is submitted for information please. (And written in a submission format for fun : )

"Then in Feb 2006, I saw the news reporting on the passing of this man Mr S Rajaratnam. I asked mummy why Mr S Rajaratnam died. My mummy told me that he died of old age. Then I made a decision. I told my mummy that I don't want to go to school. My mummy asked me why. And I told her it is because "if I go to school, I will need to work one day after I finish my studies. After that when I marry and become papa, mummy will become grandma, and mummy will be old, then mummy will die. I don't want mummy to die, so I don't want to go to school." "
